Château Lieujean (no reserve) 1996
The wine
Château Lieujean produces a rather powerful and fleshy wine. It needs to be kept for 5 to 12 years for it to soften and then reveal its delicate structure.
About the Producer Château Lieujean
Château Lieujean is a beautiful property a few kilometres from Pauillac. Built in 1868, it occupies an area of 52 hectares. The vines grow in sandy-gravelly soil. There have been numerous owners since 1870. Although annual production was close to 250,000 bottles just before the First World War, it subsequently fell by half. In 1965, the property's new owner, André Baron expanded the vineyard and modernized the winery and cellars. The vineyard is currently run by Jean-Michel Lapalu.
