Côtes du Luberon Grand Deffand Château La Verrerie (no reserve) 1999
The wine
This cuvée is only produced in the best years, with meticulously selected Syrah and black Grenache grapes. The wine is matured in foudres for six months and is deep ruby in colour, with intense aromas of ripe fruits, spice and the garrigue. Its generous style makes it ideal for pairing with grilled meats or meats in sauce.
About the Producer Château La Verrerie
Sitting in the heart of the Lubéron region, Château La Verrerie once had 20 hectares of vines which were harvested and vinified in a cooperative. Since it was bought back by Mr. Descours in 1981, he has expanded it the domain to cover its current fifty hectares which are tended according to organic principles (they received organic certification in 2009). The terroir is calcerous-clay covered in scree, producing 70% red wines, 20% rosé and 10% white.
