More info

The growing proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) reduces the quantity of Merlot in the Camensac wines. The wine is aged between 17 and 20 months in barrels (50% new). The bouquet develops black fruit aromas such as blackcurrant or blackberry. We also feel cigar box and leather notes. The palate is classic for Bordeaux left bank, with its majority of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a very particular wine, which can be tasted after 8 years of cellar.

About the Producer Château Camensac

Camensac is in one of the five classified growths of the Haut-Médoc appellation. This appellation spreads from North of Saint-Estephe to Margaux. Camensac's vineyard lies to the west of Saint Julien, adjoining Belgrave to the north, and La Tour Carnet to the south-west. The Forner family purchased the property in 1965, replanting the vineyard and restoring the château and winery. The vines are planted on magnificent gravelly slopes, consisting mainly of perfectly drained, deep gravel. The quality of this terroir, combined with an already well-established reputation, resulted in Camensac's inclusion in the famous classification of 1855. However, this property has never become particularly well-known. Nonetheless, the regularity and the progress made by this cru, make it a reference for great Bordeaux lovers. Camensac is now advised by Michel Rolland and Eric Boissenot. The vines are 35 years old. Furthermore, it is sufficiently tannic in the best vintages to ensure a potential to age for a good 10 to 25 years.
