Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Jacky Truchot 2005
The wine
Clos de la Roche is made from old vines (over 70 years old). The nose produces aromas of stewed cherries and spicy notes. The cherry scents are echoed in the palate, accompanied by mineral notes; the substance is supple, and the fruity, cocoa finish is fairly long. This wine goes well with game birds, glazed poultry and red meat.
About the Producer Jacky Truchot
Domaine Jacky Truchot, in Morey-Saint-Denis, disappeared in 2006 (the 7 hectares were sold to David Duband through an investor), following the winemaker's retirement. It is a domaine which has remained quite mysterious, very little publicised and of which little is known, only that its wines are sublime and increasingly sought after by connoisseurs, some bottles going for high prices. Jacky Truchot and his wife Liliane took over a cousin's domaine, (Henri Mauffrey) when he died in 1978. The vineyard, which is very prestigious, included some vines planted at the beginning of the last century. After vinifying 26 vintages, the winemaker ended with his fine 2005 vintage. The style of the wines is classic, with considerable elegance and refinement with subtle yet numerous tannins.
