Bordeaux | 1978 vintage
An outstanding vintage. Despite terrible weather conditions through to August, the vintage was saved by an exceptional autumn that ripened the grapes beautifully. The late harvests produced intensely fruity, colourful wines with a moderate amount of tannic. Like most of the Médoc grands crus, the Graves were tremendously successful. Today the majority of these wines have reached maturity. The Sauternes region was more complicated with a hot and dry autumn that prevented rot from developing. The wines are fat and lacking in complexity.
