Barolo DOCG Riserva Lorenzo Accomasso 2008
The wine
This cuvée comes from a single varietal – the Nebbiolo grape – which is classic for Barolo wines. This Italian wine comes from domain Lorenzo Accomasso, which we find in La Morra, Piedmont. The terroir here is largely rich in clay. Work in the vines is carried out by hand in the old-fashioned way. There is very little intervention while the grapes are vinified, with only indigenous yeasts used and no sulphites added. It has a beautiful colour. The nose offers aromas of ripe, black fruits bursting with sun, nuts and dried fruit. On the palate it lingers on cherry notes as well as a vegetal hint that gives a burst of freshness. This is a powerful cuvée that finds a just balance of finesse and rusticity. Serve it at 18°C with a lentil dish or lamb.
