The wine
Le Criots-Bâtard Montrachet is the smallest of the three grand cru vineyards in the commune of Chassagne-Montrachet (at just 1.56 hectares). Pale gold in colour, this wine darkens to yellow gold and develops an exceptionally powerful bouquet. It is rich and complex with aromas of lemon, butter, almond, honey and spices. An intense creaminess characterises this majestic cru.
About the Producer Blain-Gagnard
Jean-Marc Blain is a native of Sancerrois and his roots in Burgundy terroirs came from his marriage to Claudine Gagnard in 1980. Today he produces wines from about twenty different appellations. The limestone soil gives the wines considerable finesse and elegance, and the marl gives them a beautiful structure. Over thirty years, the humble Jean-Marc Blain has become a great name in Chassagne, and is one of the seven owners of the exceptional Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru.
