Château Meyney 2012
The wine
The wine is full and fleshy with an excellent tannic structure. It has superb ageing potential but needs to be kept for a good ten years to express itself fully.
About the Producer Château Meyney
Château Meyney is one of the oldest properties in the Médoc. It was bought by the Crédit Agricole subsidiary, CA Grands Crus in 2004. Anne Naour is the château's technical director. She is assisted by Hubert de Bouärd (who is also co-proprietor of Château Angélus). The estate has 51 hectares of vineyards planted on siliceous gravel; the vines have an average age of 35 to 40 years. Planting takes the following arrangement: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. The grapes are harvested by hand and every year some 160,000 bottles of Château Meyney are produced. A second wine, Prieur de Meyney is produced in similar volumes to the first wine.
