Saumur-Champigny Les Poyeux Le Petit Saint-Vincent 2014
The wine
This 100% Cabernet-Franc cuvée comes from a slightly sloping, south-western facing terroir. The grape variety grown there has benefited from the soil’s sandy influence and tuffeau stone. It has been manually harvested and subject to malolactic fermentation in used barriques (two to three wines) for a year. Suitable for keeping for about 15 years, it unfurls silky tannins and aromas which cleverly blend black fruit and plants ; all with a fine mineral framework.
About the Producer Le Petit Saint Vincent
Le Petit Saint Vincent is a family domaine located around the village of Varrains in the heart of the Saumur-Champigny appellation. Dominique Joseph represents the fourth generation of the family and has managed the 12-hectare estate since 1990. The relatively old vines are cover cropped and the grapes are handpicked once they reach optimum maturity.
