Bourgogne Côte d'Or Clos du Moulin Michel Bouzereau et Fils (Domaine) 2018

The wine

Covering 1 hectare, the terroir of this Clos de Moulin is found at the start of a slope, near to two notable climats (Les Chevalières and Les Petits Charrons). The Chardonnay vines are around 40 years old, neighbouring a little windmill. The vines are grown sustainably, following biodynamic principles. The wine is matured in oak barrels for a year, then in vats for 4 months, allowing it balance out. It has a lovely, yellow colour. The nose is sensuous with notes of lemon, butter and apple. The palate has an exceptional intensity of candied and dried fruits with a full finish. This cuvée will pair nicely with goats’ cheese and comté. It can be enjoyed from now, or in 5-6 years if you wish to age it. Aerate it in the bottle for around half an hour and serve it at 12°C. The Bouzereau family has been crafting wine in Meursault for seven generations. Jean-Baptiste takes care of over 10 hectares in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Volnay and Beaune. Careful work in the vines leads to precise vinifications.

About the Producer Michel Bouzereau et Fils

In 1999, Jean-Baptiste officially took over Domaine Michel Bouzereau, proudly adding ‘et fils' to the estate name. This producer inherited a well-established family history, since the Bouzereaus have been making wine in Meursault for 7 generations. Observant and attentive, Jean-Baptiste spends most of his time in the vineyard, carefully watching the vines and working on the soil, convinced as he is that healthy fruit is the key to fine wine. The vines are grown sustainably with a philosophy moving towards organics. In 2008, he finished working on his new winery, giving him much more space to take care of each of his cuvées individually and adapt to their rhythm. The wines all come from parcels in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Pommard and Volnay, each of them increasingly appreciated for their elegance and finesse. Each of them respect the specificity of terroir and vintage.
