Collioure Coume del Mas Schistes 2021

The wine

The Schistes cuvée, with its garnet-red appearance, delivers aromas of red berries (redcurrants, raspberries) and black berries. The bouquet is enhanced with scents of spices and scrubland. Produced from seaside vine parcels, the Tramontane-lashed grapes lend this cuvée an attractive freshness. In the mouth, this wine is fleshy - a key characteristic of the domain's favourite grape variety. Ideal with red meat or Asian cuisine.

About the Producer Coume del Mas

Coume del Mas was created in 2001, when Philippe Gard carried out his first vinifications. Situated on a very sloping terroir, the highest parcels reaching 380m, while some of the vines grow right next to the Mediterranean. With sometimes vertiginous drops, the grapes are harvested by hand. One grape variety is at the heart of Philippe Gard and his wife Nathalie's work, Grenache. They use Grenache Noir, Gris and Blanc in both blends and alone to produce red, white and rosé wines. They also grow five other varietals: Mourvèdre, Carignan, Vermentino, Roussanne and Syrah. Philippe Gard works for the most part with long élevage in barrels.
